Music Director

David Ansell grew up in Dorchester, playing in schools music groups, the Durnovaria Silver Band and many other local ensembles. He went on to study horn and piano at Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music. He spent some years teaching, and playing professionally for a number of orchestras including the National Pops Orchestra (horn), jazz orchestras (horn and trumpet) The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, a salsa band (keyboard), a samba band (repinique), and many other ensembles.

David is now one again resident in 

Dorchester, playing in several chamber ensembles such as the Cornucopia Horn Quartet and the Tumlyn Brass Quintet and professional orchestras as and when required.

Through the week he teaches all brass instruments and piano, mostly in schools. 

David conducts many ensembles throughout the year including the Dorset Sinfonia, at the ECSOC music course on Guernsey, school ensembles, and as a guest conductor with the Wimborne Orchestra.
