Very many thanks for all the comments and feedback I have received about this project. Although we are all stuck at home, we do have the advantage that, as budding musicians, we can keep ourselves occupied by practicing our instruments. Not quite the same, of course, as playing with others though, The ultimate aim of this project is to develop a number of pieces that not only can you play along with, but over the course of the next few weeks, to be able to record yourself playing 'your part' and posting it up to me to do a complete 'mix'. That way, we may be able to put on a full-blown 'virtual' performance. In the meantime, I am quietly working in the background working out how to set this all up and hope you appreciate that I am on a bit of a learning curve. I cannot do this without your help, of course ! Please could you post on this forum any suggestions, comments on any of the practicalities you are finding? I am in the process of setting up a YouTube channel where, (so goes the plan), I will develop some guidance tutorials. If you have hit a road-block in some way, then it is likely so will others. That way, I can ensure I can correct any weaknesses in the system. Thanks again - please do keep well and sane!

Some while ago on a SNO newsletter I put up a short note about equipment I have collected over the years - quite a bit of which stems back to a time when 'of a certain age' I thought I would start a rock-band. (Much to my dear wife's reservations, it has to be said). Having been boo'ed off a few stages or performing to a slightly tipsy audiences of about 3, it was probably a good idea to admit that time had caught up. This collection of 'stuff' includes electronic keyboards, PA systems, mixers, effects units, microphones, stands and a 16-bit digital recording system. It would be a pity if this is left to gather more dust in the loft, so I would be more than happy to lend this out to members of SNO if thy ever need to access to some of this, or just to record themselves (or their various ensembles) playing. Help freely given in setting this up, of course. ... on the other hand I did hear a great performance of "Paint it Black" performed by the London Philharmonic, once.... Any chance, Katy?

Andover Light Orchestra invites you to this year’s day of music playing on the 24th February at the Fairground Hall, Weyhill. We welcome all orchestral instruments, and also saxophones and other band instruments. We are planning a varied programme, and hope to include Main Theme from Superman (John Williams), War of the Worlds (Jeff Wayne), The Beyondness of Things (John Barry) and others. There is a fee of £12 per person, payable at time of booking, please see http://www.andoverlightorchestra.co.uk/openorchestra.html for booking form and more details. It was a good event last year and we hope to make it even better this year and it would be great if you could join us. Please pass on details to any musicians you know who would be interested in coming. Regards, Caroline Mullens Andover Light Orchestra
